Common questions
What file types can I upload?+
PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), plain text and Markdown. Upload more than one at a time and Auto Cards reads them together as a single deck.
Does it work with scanned PDFs or photos of a textbook?+
Not yet. Auto Cards reads the text layer of a document, so a scanned page or a photo with no selectable text can't be turned into cards. If you can select and copy the text, Auto Cards can read it.
Is Auto Cards free?+
Yes. The free plan includes monthly AI generation, not only a trial. Pro and Lifetime have higher limits. See the plans above.
How does the spaced repetition work?+
Every card you answer feeds a scheduler that brings it back right before you're likely to forget it, so review time goes to the cards you actually need and not the ones you already know.
Can I share a deck with someone else?+
Yes. Send anyone a link and they get their own copy to study. They do not need an account to receive it, and changes to your copy do not affect theirs.
Is there a mobile app?+
It's on the way. It is not in the App Store or Google Play yet. The web app works in a phone browser.
